Our team

Clare RocheClare Roche

The practice principal is Clare Roche. She began the practice, with a partner in 1986. She is a member of the Manipulative Association of Chartered Physiotherapists, entry to which is only gained by examination (arduous ones at that!) Her interests are principally in musculoskeletal problems including TMJs, but she also endeavours to maintain her skills in the treatment of neurological conditions such as strokes, MS and Parkinsons. She is also qualified to inject joints and other tissues when appropriate. She believes it is of vital importance for patients to understand the nature of their problem so that they are key players in the road back to full fitness. Successful rehabilitation depends on this. For most conditions it is an illusion that the patient's role is a passive one.

Having had a go at most sports including amongst others marathon running, mountaineering, skiing, sailing , tennis, squash, diving and dragon boat racing (If you can call that a sport!) she retains a certain sympathy with the frustrated injured sportsman.

Cath McCarthy

Cath began her association with us as a locum but due to increasing demand rapidly became a permanent and important member of the team. She has a very holistic approach to treatment and is also qualified to use acupuncture when appropriate. She is personally very involved with sport and so is familiar with the particular demands that this requires.

Suzanne van KesselSuzanne van Kessel

Suzanne joined the practice in 2002. She is Dutch but was educated in Britain where she did her physiotherapy studies. As well as being an excellent therapist specializing in musculoskeletal problems she has also competed internationally in hang gliding and of course speaks a few other languages apart from english and dutch!

Alison BarnesAlison Barnes

Alison has joined the practice on a more permanent basis; she had been doing some locum work for us for a while. Alison is an experienced musculoskeletal physiotherapist having worked in many NHS departments as well as in private practice

Louise AshdownLouise Ashdown

Louise joined us in 2004. She is an enthusiastic and dynamic therapist with an interest in joint biomechanics, and the interaction of muscle imbalance in the genesis of musculoskeletal dysfunction

Sue SlackSue Slack

Sue is our practice manager. She endeavours to keep us all in order which is a difficult task in itself, but she manages to do that and keep a smile on her face.
