Vigorous exercise needed to maintain optimum health

As if we needed another reminder! Yes another study that underlines how crucial exercise is for all of us, regardless of age, if we are to keep healthy. It not just helps with obesity but cholesterol, depression, blood pressure & muscle strength, to mention only a few salient areas.

As Dr O'Donovan from Exeter University wrote in discussion of his work;

 

"Time and time again, the largest and most robust studies have shown that vigorously active individuals live longer and enjoy a better quality of life than moderately active individuals and couch potatoes. It's extremely worrying that British adults now believe that a brief stroll and a bit of gardening is enough to make them fit and healthy.

 

The message is clear, then, hot sweaty exercise several times a week.
